Plans to launch its online poker portal in America anytime soon

The United States is one of the largest online gambling markets in the world. However, for Zynga, the idea of entering the United States of America's economy is a far-fetched idea. The social game publisher, which has just side stepped into real-money gaming last June, said in a press release that it has dropped the idea of competing against other American poker operators.

"While the company continues to evaluate its real-money gaming products in the United Kingdom, Zynga is making the focused choice not to pursue a license for real money gambling in the United States," Zynga told the media.

While Zynga is hesitant, its network partner NJ casino is now all set to try its luck in the United States. The UK-based company, which was formed through the merger between PartyGaming plc and Bwin Interactive Entertainment AG, has solidified its intentions of competing in the US gambling marketplace after hiring GeoComply as its geosolutions partner. Bwin selected GeoComply because of the American firm's high standard of services. Recently, GeoComply was awarded a license by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

"We are thrilled to have won this tender and to be now working with bwin.party in such an exciting new market," said Anna Sainsbury, CEO of GeoComply USA, Inc.

"As a specialist company focused on the iGaming space; we are very much looking forward to assisting bwin.party in delivering to the gold standard of iGaming compliance in geolocation technologies."

Aside from the Nevadan certification, Geocomply also applied for a license to operate in New Jersey, the same state where Bwin plans to commence its US operations. Poker news provider PokerUpdate reported on July 16 that Bwin submitted its application to the state of New Jersey, hoping to see partypoker start its US operations before July 31. In addition to that, Bwin is also working on an agreement with MGM Resorts International and Boyd Gaming to operate inside Atlantic City's Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. The Borgata is New Jersey's highest grossing hotel when it comes to casino revenue. For the last couple of years, it recorded a monthly average income of $45 million to $55 million a month, a figure that is twice as high as the turnover of nearby casinos. Bwin can get a lot of aid from Borgata as the hotel is now planning to become an internet gambling authority. The hotel will somehow need an online gambling brand that has great records. The hotel is fully committed in providing casino enthusiasts with world-class gaming experience. The Borgata invested $1.1 billion in its first casino in 2005 and another $ 1 billion for another gambling house that includes the Water Club.

Bwin's new affiliations with American gambling industry's biggest names can surely help to bolster its chances in the 50-state country. However, the London-based company can't be too complacent because doing business in the US is very different compared to its usual European markets. Another reason is that fact that the two regions have different market behavior. Just like the game of poker, it should use the best strategies to stay in the competition.
